Bass Edge, friends go racing

Bass Edge’s own Aaron Martin recently joined O'Reilly Auto Parts and SuperStart Batteries team members for a little racing in Kansas for race No. 3 of the 2008 "NASCAR Race for the Chase."

"What a great weekend," Martin recalled. "Hanging out trackside with the O'Reilly Team and talking fishing with the thousands of fans that came by is always pretty special."

Martin was on-hand in the O'Reilly booth all three days with the Bass Edge truck and boat in front of a sold-out crowd. Use to long lines at the races, fans did not seem to mind waiting for their chance to get an autograph and photo with Bass Edge show host Aaron Martin.  Prior to Sunday’s race, fans began forming lines early in anticipation of getting one of the 2008 Bass Edge Tour shirts and numerous other items tossed out to the crowd while standing on top of the boat.

In the race, Carl Edwards closed in on Jimmy Johnson during the final laps and caught the No. 48 car on the final two turns of the last lap for the pass. But in so doing, Edwards, of Missouri, went up the track and hit the wall, and that allowed Johnson to regain the lead and win the race. Johnson also took a 10-point lead over Edwards in the Chase.  Greg Biffle, vying to win three in a row, passed Jeff Gordon on the final turn to finish third.
