Electronics tips
Mike Webb
I was watching the show from this Saturday and had a question about the electronics. You were showing your line fall to the bottom and then bouncing off. Were you just dropping your line over the edge of the boat, or were you casting? If you were casting, how does the finder "see" your bait 50 or 100 feet away from the boat? I am looking at some new fish finders and the one you were using looked really cool. Thank you in advance. -Bryan
Answer:
The majority of the day we were fishing vertically and dropping our line over the side of the boat. Our electronics have a transmission signal ("Cone Angle") of 12 degrees so the deeper the water the larger the area showing up on your graph. Anything that is outside of this area will not show up on your graph. There are a lot of reasonably priced, good units on the market. Bass Edge is coming out with our "Electronics DVD" in late Spring and it will go into detail about choosing electronics, settings/preferences as well as using them on the water. For additional information, go to the media section on our website and listen to podcast #38 with Mike Webb on electronics, he provides some great tips! Good Luck, -Aaron Martin, show host
