I am fishing many southern Illinois lakes that have no grass, wood, or rock cover . . .

Question:
I am fishing many southern Illinois lakes that have no grass, wood, or rock cover do to the low water conditions.
The water is 45-50 degrees I am charting Shad 15 ft down in 20-40ft of water but do not see any active fish beneath them.
How, where, and what technique would you advise to find and catch Bass in these conditions?

Answer:
If you are around shad half the battle is over. To answer your question regarding where are the bass?A lot of the time the bass will hide on the bottom or it appears as though they are hidden. But really they are there you, just cant see them with your electronics. That is a big question Aaron and I answer on our upcoming video about deep water fishing and your electronics. Try dropping your bait to the bottom under the shad and reel it up 1 crank and work it there. The bait I would use would be a 4 inch smoke colored grub on a 1/4 ounce head and just shake it in place. Thanks for the question and good luck. -Mike Webb, Bass Edge Pro Staff
