Question:
I fish Lake Stockton every first week in May.  The Lake is located in Southwest Missouri, water temperatures range from high fifties to mid sixties. Where should I be looking for fish and what should I be throwing at them?  Marie, Hanley Hills MO

Answer:

During the first week of May I would look for secondary points with  spawning pockets close by.  I would start on the point and work into the pocket with a weightless Zoom Super Fluke.  The color choices would be Aurora black or watermelon red.  Cast the bait toward the shoreline allowing it to sink 2-3 seconds, then twitch the rod two times, pause for 2-3 seconds, and repeat the process back to the boat.   Good Luck!  -Brian Snowden, B.A.S.S.
