The problem I have is on windy days

I fish lake fork alot, problem I have is on windy days I cannot seem to catch fish on points when I know fish are there? What is a good tip for these points? One more question, I am in the market for a new fishfinder / gps what is your choice? I am not rich and retired on fixed income.

Wind can really be a factor to spur the fishes activity level, however it can make things mechanically challenging. Two things I would recommend when fishing points in the wind are: Increase weight size if you are fishing on the bottom with jig or plastics. This help you maintain contact with the bottom and your lure for detecting strikes. I would also consider a crankbait that will help cover diffrent water depths and locations as fish and prey can scatter and/or suspend in windy conditions. Second, if you believe fish haven't left the area then check to see if they've repositioned on the point. They may have slid off the side of the point to less obvious feeding areas to take advantage of the current from the wind as it washes accross the point. Try these tips and see if you can reconnect with the fish.
