What is the best knot for Fluorocarbon, mono and Braid? Will one knot fit all or is there specific knots for each type of line?
-John
Answer:
John, if I had to tie one knot for all three types of line I would tie the 'Palomar Knot' this is a easy and fast knot to tie and works quite well with all three types of line. I do prefer to add one other knot into the mix and this would be the Uni-knot. I use the Uni-knot with fluorocarbon lines, especially those lighter than 12#. I also use a double Uni-knot to join shorter fluorocarbon leaders (3' or less) to braided and fire lines. And for longer leaders I will use the All-bright knot, this is not quite as strong as the double uni-knot but with the longer leaders the All-bright knot comes through the guides much easier .
I hope this helps you with your knot selections and good luck fishing!
