What is the best way to fish the Spro Bronzeye frog?

Question:
What is the best way to fish the Spro Bronzeye frog?  I fish at my home lake and it has grass and other cover. I usually rig it with the hooks up so I don't hang up in grass but, when a bass blows up on it and takes it down, I wait a start to reel down until I feel the weight of the fish I set the hook but for some reason when I think I have it I actually don't please advise.

Answer:
Frog fishing can be a blast, but can also be a frustrating as you know. Sounds like your doing things right and pausing just a bit before you swing. Remember that frog fishing has a lower hook to land ratio then other techniques. Trying to address the problem your having can be difficult without actually seeing it take place. One thing that is important is making sure that A LOT of pressure is applied immediately after setting the hook. You can do this by reeling fast while sweeping the rod toward you in order to move a lot of line which does two things. Gets the hooks buried past the barbs, but also moves the fish away from potential hang ups. This can be a very equipment specific technique to maximize your success. I suggest a 7' medium/heavy to heavy action rod and a fast reel (6:3 to 7:0 gear ratio) w/ low stretch braided line to bury the hook at the end of a cast in or around heavy grass or cover.

Good fishing!
