Why change spinnerbait blades or have separate spinnerbaits for night fishing?

Question:
I see people using painted spinnerbait blades for night fishing.  Why would one go through the trouble of either changing to painted blades or having separate spinnerbaits for night fishing? Isn't the vibration the key?  How much is that little bit of flash going to hurt? -Herman

Answer:
Herman that's a great question. Yes, the key at night is the vibration. All of my friends that fish tournaments at night use black single blade spinner baits and the blade is a very large Colorado style. They also do not use a trailer or a trailer hook. They do cut the skirt even with the back of the hook for those short striking fish. Most of them use a spinnerbait that is at least 1/2 ounce or more and slow roll it around any cover you can find. The dark color cast a shadow and is easier to see than a silver blade that needs sun for the flash. Good luck and thanks for watching bassedge. -Mike Webb, Bass Edge Pro Staff
